Reinforcement

Reinforcement is an absolute highlight of Allplan!

Automatic reinforcement drawings for girders, columns etc. were available as early as the Eighties. In the Nineties we started developing 3D reinforcement as we wanted to ensure that layout and reinforcement schedules form an integrated whole. 3D reinforcement is applied in our precast factories. To quote one of our customers:

“Since the introduction of Allplan 3D, we’ve been able to optimize our reinforcement drawings. What’s more, now we don’t have to go through the time-consuming process of creating a large number of detailed drawings.”
Look at the list below and you will see that reinforcement in Allplan includes everything you need:

  • Bar reinforcement
  • Mesh reinforcement
  • Component libraries
  • Fixtures, component groups, fixture schedules
  • Catalogs
  • Collision check
  • Reinforcement schedules, bending schedules
  • cut and bend
  • Connection to structural analyses and finite elements

Allplan lets you create perfect layouts, visualize layouts, output all types of lists and schedules and generate data for robots.

Allplan offers numerous functions for
creating reinforcement drawings efficiently

The most important part first
With Allplan you can quickly enter reinforcement using different layouts, manage quantities consistently and benefit from the automatic update feature when you make changes later. Entering, displaying, analyzing - that’s all!

Suitable for any component
When reinforcement is entered, Allplan automatically detects the outline of the shell. This applies for reinforcing bars and steel mesh.

  • Allplan always creates reinforcement suitable for the outline at hand:
  • Allplan automatically detects the outline of the shell.
    (FF reinforcement Formwork Finder)
  • Allplan proposes suitable reinforcement, which is displayed attached to the cursor and can be specified more precisely with just a few mouse clicks.

As an alternative, select predefined reinforcement, enter parameters and the bar adapts automatically to the relevant outline.

  • Parameterized reinforcement for components
  • Components can be reinforced using reinforcement groups.
  • FF catalog, which includes more than 100 frequently used reinforcement types, saves you a lot of time
  • A few parameters are sufficient for defining a reinforcement group (no geometry).
  • Allplan automatically detects the actual dimensions as soon as you move the cursor, to which the reinforcement group is attached, to the outline of a shell.
  • Entry is interactive. Settings such as bar diameter, concrete cover etc. can be changed at any time. The preview updates immediately to reflect any changes you make.

Check the design

You can perform a collision check of reinforcement by calculating photo-realistic images in animation windows – this tool is designed not just to play around with. It is particularly useful for checking the design as you can immediately see whether or where reinforcement collides.

How to display reinforcement

There are standards specifying how bending shapes, schemas, placements, labels and details are to look. However, most designers have their own ideas regarding the appearance of layouts.

Allplan’s reinforcement is in use in more than 20 countries. Therefore, the possible display options offered by Allplan are manifold. You can adapt display to your needs and requirements and set default values.

The reinforcement process encompassing design to placement to schema generation through to display is not a stolid, uncreative approach in Allplan. On the contrary, you can edit and modify everything whenever you need (particularly in the case of changes).

The option to have the program automatically create views and sections in reinforcement drawings is another highlight. This way, you can enhance your layouts as you want – without having to draw a single line! And, of course, reinforcement will automatically update to reflect any changes you make.

Changes – over and over again!

Allplan manages reinforcement, and as each bar has been given its own specific properties such as bar diameter, bending shape, length etc., you can modify each bar separately. The same applies for entire groups or placements. Here, too, schemas, lists and schedules will update automatically to reflect any changes you make to the reinforcement.

These capabilities clearly distinguish Allplan from other systems.

Reinforcement and bending schedules

Reinforcement schedules, bending schedules, wire mesh schedules and mesh cutting diagrams are directly derived from the data.
You can access a wide range of alternatives; you can even save schedules as Excel-format files.

Cut and bend

Results can be transferred directly to steel processing machines. Data is output via the BVBS interface, which is known by most producers (output via Unitechnik, see circulation systems).

Fixtures, fixture groups, articles

Allplan’s simplest solution involves providing libraries with symbols and smart symbols and generating schedules of fixtures. This is sufficient for many users.

When it comes to precast factories with machines associated with ERP systems, catalogs and billing systems, this topic is much more complex (see fixtures, article catalogs). Allplan also excels here!

Structural analysis and finite elements -
round-trip engineering

Both our developers and our customers study the topics of component calculation and design and the resulting automatic generation of reinforcement drawings. For years our solutions for area reinforcement in conjunction with finite elements have worked perfectly and have stood the test of time.

For precast factories, this is particularly interesting when a mesh welding machine puts the results into practice. By the way, reinforcement of any structural analysis program can be transferred to Allplan via suitable interfaces.
