Sandwichpanel

Sandwich panels or wall panels are increasingly produced in highly automated factories using circulation systems. To meet the requirements of these factories, we have developed the Sandwich Panel module, which lets you design relatively simple sandwich and wall panels quickly and easily.
In other words, automatic processes and production drawings (element plans) generated automatically facilitate the design process. In addition, this module provides the data required for production using circulation systems.
As sandwich elements are often very complex, they are usually produced manually. In Allplan, they are classified as “structural precast elements”.
This means that sandwich panels are designed element by element as described for “structural precast elements”.

Begin with the building

The procedure for designing sandwich panels is basically the same as that for slabs and walls. The first step involves defining the geometry – be it an individual façade, floor or an entire building. In skeleton construction, slabs, beams and columns need to be defined.

Sandwich panels

Allplan provides catalogs you can use to define sandwich panels using parameters.

  • Panel type, wall panel, foundation element, facing element
  • Layers
  • Association with neighboring elements
  • Joint profiles
  • Association with columns
  • Corners
  • Reinforcement

Panelisation

The program inserts the panels into the façade. You can define mandatory points for the division. The panels can also be divided manually.

Special conditions such as different element types, leaves at corners or special starter bars for columns are taken into account.

Interaction between panels and columns

Panels and columns are mutually dependent.
As a result, the fixtures required for erection are automatically placed both in columns and panels.
This way, you do not have to go through the time-consuming process of placing fixtures manually, and you can immediately see for yourself whether the program has placed the fixtures correctly.

Automatic reinforcement

Of course, precast elements are reinforced automatically.
Two reinforcement layers are created per leaf. Structural reinforcement is automatically applied in the areas of openings. And if necessary, additional reinforcement is added as usual.

Element plan

Each precast element is automatically displayed in the element plan and can be edited interactively as usual.

Results

  • General drawings, placing drawings
  • Associative production drawings (element plans), which can be edited automatically, for each precast element
  • Data for process planning, production and ERP systems
